I'm feeling guilty
« on: September 08, 2014, 05:19:13 pm »
I was getting ready to go out last night when I heard one of the sheep making a lot of noise. For some reason I didn't think anything was wrong and therefore didn't do anything about it. Now this is strange behaviour for me, behaviour which I can't account for as I look out the window to check the sheep every 5 mins  :)
This morning I went out to see them and everything was strangely quiet and then I found a ram lamb had been caught in the electric fence wire (it wasn't switched on) which we had left lying about the day before. It was round his legs and also round his neck, although not tightly round the neck. All the other sheep were lying down quite close to him, albeit the girls were the other side of the fence, its obvious they knew something was wrong.
I got him out straight away and he just looked peculiar and was limping. I fed him and he had a long drink and I'm pleased to say he now looks as right as rain.
The electric fence has now been put back correctly and you can be sure I won't be making the same mistake again.
Life is like a bowl of cherries, mostly yummy but some dodgy bits

:relief:  Thank goodness he's ok.  You've had a wee lesson  ;)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
