After many years of hugging donkeys on visits to horse and animal sanctuaries, and wishing I could have a couple .....I now have two.
A big thank you to Pedwardine, who allowed her two gorgeous boys, Mattie and Monty to come and live with me. I know how hard it was for her and her husband to part with them. They had done very little travellling before, but made the journey from Lincolnshire to Derbyshire without any problem. Got off the trailer, stared at the hills - yes, big hills. Our ponies, the cows next field, and then explored the field. Settled in really well.
The poor mini shetties ran off when they heard the donkeys bray ....they can just about cope now with the noise. Our GSD is still transfixed and sits by the fence watching the boys. Had a giggle when one of the donkeys rolled - uphill. They are used to flat fields, not mountains.
Only complaint is they gnaw the post and railfence, and the gate, and the stiles. Spend quite a bit of time watching for hikers going over the field path, and think they are hoping for food out of backpacks. Have some pics, but camera has gone iffy and cannot upload pics yet.
