Our ram lamb is afraid of mud!!!
« on: May 10, 2012, 11:38:04 am »
Every day I am having to rescue our little ram lamb! There is a big patch of mud and puddles between the stable where they shelter at night and the paddock. When mum goes out in the morning, he won't cross this patch of mud and bleats pityfully until I go and rescue him! His mum is a first timer and just stands in the middle of the field baa-ing at him. All the other mums and lambs seem to manage fine. It is a bit comical but getting very old now. Hope he snaps out of it soon or I'll have to buy him some wellies x

Maybe it's time to put down a gangplank for him to cross with dry feet  :sheep:

Our big wether isn't keen on mud either and makes a real fuss if he has to cross any - and he's way, way too big to carry  ;D

Ours hate the mud.  They dont like going through the race as there is a plastic trough in the bottom, obviously used for dipping feet in the past.  Also, if they are in the barn, they won't come out without being tempted with ewe nuts as they have to cross a very muddy patch.

We've put him and mum back in the stable for some bonding time (nice and dry - no puddles). Hopefully after a couple more days mum'll notice when he gets stuck behind a puddle and come back for him rather than just leaving him there. Had to top him up with a bottle yesterday as he is a little bit skinny and was very cold. Hope she starts to look after him a bit more....
