Smallholding is a therapy for dealing with modern existence.  It brings me peace whereas my 1800 acre farming neighbour is stressed.

We have 2 ewe lambs and 2 whethers, they got put in with my horses whilst Mr Tup was in with his ladies, he has now gone back to his tup pals and they are back with the flock......thank god......they are hand reared so can you imagine the hassle trying to get horse feeds ready etc!!  They are now stood at the fence of the sheep field, BAAAAAAAING, everytime they see 'Mummy'! That'll be me then!

Just stop all this nastiness please. I for one didn't join this forum for nastiness, so please please stop it now.

I am sorry bigchicken, you are quite right, there is no place for nastiness on here. f3rr3tt caught me at a bad moment with their remark, I had just lost my oldest ewe and was feeling pretty bad about it. It would be a great pity if people became afraid to ask questions.

Well f3rr3t....I agree with you, on a personal level.....i cant believe how little I know about sheep either!!..

..... but what amazes me is how much everyone else here knows and how generous they are with their knowledge and experience.

As with many other skills if the very first person hadnt tried...even though they knew absolutely nothing....then non of us would be keeping sheep. Sometimes its the collective shared experience of new good, and bad, ideas that pushes knowledge forward. So, again, even the most experienced of people on this forum will ask questions, and will maybe learn something from a complete novice!!

Lets sweep the missunderstanding under the carpet and start affresh!!
so instead of an olive branch i am waving a piece of brocolli :brocolli: :brocolli: LOL
