Aga lamb

Had to share this photo.  He had a very traumatic birth and lost his twin in the process.  Ewe wouldn't mother due to what she went through.  When she did he couldn't suckle until the third day and then he managed it.  That was the best day ever!

Things we do for the lambs. I had a bit of a very early labour with one of my first timers who tried hard to care for them but had no milk and ended up walking around with very small twins shoved up my jumper so I had 2 little heads poking out of the top for about 12 hours to warm them and get them to feed.

The bottom oven is SO useful  :D  When I was growing up we used to put runty piglets in the bottom oven to warm up, then they would be taken over by the cat who would sit on them in a box just in front of the AGA.  I don't have an AGA any more and sitting a lamb on the radiator just isn't the same  ;D  :sheep:  I'm so glad he's doing fine.

So sweet and well done you (not ewe ;) )

I had a very small triplet one year which went in the bottom oven, though sadly when restored to Mum died anyway.  It was hardly much bigger than the cat, and my cat is a very small "farm" cat

This was my photo

All the best
Sue

Sue Darkbrowneggs ....  What is your lovely cat called?
He is just like our daft boy, who is the spitting image of our old cat - Love the black tails, like they are stuck on as an after thought!

AGAs & Rayburns are great for smallholder, wish we'd still got ours....
And the lamb photos are just gorgeous  :)

She is called Domino, as there a three spots on her one side,  There are four on the other, but they are smudged and jumbled.  This is her as a kitten

She is a real farm cat, very independent and hunting all the time.  The only time she comes to me is in the winter when I haven't put the central heating on.  I am permitted to stroke her when she is in her cat hammock though, and she loves it.   ???

:D the boy's "done" too!
My late mother in law used to say about the old lad that he was a "white cat that God picked up with oily fingers, then stuck on a black tail to match!"

I had a little lamb that I put in the warming  oven of my aga to help it. The next day I was in our local PO when my neighbour asked (rather loudly) 'hows the lamb?' To which I replied 'Fine. I 've put it in the oven and now its bleating loudly.' I then spent the next 10 minutes explaining that it was a difficult birth, etc, etc, and NO IT WAS BEING COOKED ALIVE FOR TEA!!!!!
