Hello stranger!

Just a quick thought - you'll have them inside at this time of year, and with the DEFRA restrictions, right?

If so, can you knock something up quickly using some big cardboard boxes and duct tape? That's what a Womble would do, until he had the chance to figure out something better .

I have a couple of old chicken hutches you can have. Still Weatherproof. One about size of 1.5 pallets, other size of two. Prob have some wire you could take too.

You'll need two men to get them loaded into your transport.

How old are these quail exactly and which breed of quail are they (some breeds are much larger than others)?

Also got couple hundred old bread crates - I've used them in past to make chick pens. you can tie them together in a line to make walls very easy, but bulky to transport.

quail make fantastic eating, we ate our at 10 weeks ish.
be careful chicken wire as one of ours nearly lost her head getting stuck. they can live happily in rabbit hutches, what about using old baths with mesh over the top?
if your not ready just eat them then start again next year.

Have you got males in with the hens?

It's usually the boys that fight and they will seriously injure or kill each other.

You need to sex and separate the boys from girls.

You can put things in to help distract them. Eg conifer branches, dust baths, cardboard boxes. Lots of places to hide and get out of each others way. Obstacles help to break their running attacks.

Rats will get in and kill them unless you use that strong small squared wire.
