Age lambs are safe from predators?
« on: May 02, 2016, 05:51:47 am »
Hi. I'm new to forum and to raising sheep. I have to fully weaned orphan lambs (no ewe). At what age /size can I leave them out at night? I'm worried about predators so have been bringing them in at night. They are currently 7 weeks old.

at 7 weeks old they should be fine. Lambs are only susceptible to predators if they're weak, too slow, or just plain young (by young I mean between a few days and 1 week old).  At 7 weeks they should be fine, weather is another factor so if they're used to being in of a day or night I would have a shelter for them in the field which they could go into. Hope this helps and all the best
