my first table PIC on web for a few days only
« on: September 24, 2014, 08:52:37 am »
Jim Brown took a few pics of he day I finished my table under his supervision.  He has posted them on his website for a week or so as it showcases him as a teacher as well as superb craftsman.

A couple folk here asked to see it so it's easier to use his which are better anyway!

www.woodcraftbyjimbrown.co.UK and scroll past the glorious mirror which is on my wish list for making one!

That's a really lovely little table

Well done Ellie  :trophy:

Really well done, really, that's great, you look chuffed to bits and so you should.  Personally I think it's nicer than the mirror  ;)

Well done, Ellie. That is one gorgeous table. You are justifiably proud of it.

No pride of place in my house where the doorframes are catscratchers!  It is sitting under a towel in my bedroom which is catfree zone.  Have ordered ultra fine sanding, wirewool and wax to redo the top after a teeny scrape nobody else sees but I can't bear.  After that I hope to sell it. Jim said value at £350 :O  and one of his customers in St A might like it but I'm not sure I have the courage to ask half that so it'll be like everything else I make, a covered ornament I might sell one day.. ;-)

I am looking for wood for the next piece either a cabinet or a mirror depending what I find.  Had an offer of 8 oak pews coming out of a church but they're in Darlington!

Keeping an eye out for a turning lathe too and am disappointed someone in Dundee was asking £100 for a good one with other kit his dad had given up, but he's not replied to the email.. Another guy is offering similar for £170 plus other woodworm kit including a band saw and all sorts but the budget ain't that good!

Pluck up the courage to sell for a good price and then you'll be able to afford the next bits of kit.
You'll soon be making a fortune.

It's really nice

I'm the same as you though - the pieces I make are kept well away from the cats and the kids are under strict instructions to not even touch them
Our holding has Anglo Nubian and British Toggenburg goats, Gotland sheep, Franconian Geese, Blue Swedish ducks, a whole load of mongrel hens and two semi-feral children.
