What a waste of pork  :pig:  Poor pigs - the whole thing's a fiasco.

Absolutely the right thing to do. The potential for spreading diseases is enormous we just can't afford to have loads of feral pigs running around.

the article says they shot 100 of a wild population of 300 surely they should have carried on and finished the job.

i'm sorry if that sounds harsh but i cant imagine 200 wild "micro" pigs being much safer than 300...

yep it is, you just apply for it and you'll get it.

i've got one for my house and small garden, i've never had pigs here or intend to have any here but if we ever had any kind of pig emergency it could be done ;D

Insanity. That would be an ideal fix for preventing a resurgence of this problem.

£700!!!!! For a pig :o :o And now the poor old thing is living a sad and lonely life. It's always been and will always be the same though. If there's money to be made an animal will be abused and gullible people fleeced

So, say 100 of the remaining pigs are sows, and 25% are of breeding age, with an everage of 10 piglets twice a year, and more on the way as the gilts mature.  That's an awful lot of pigs, very soon!
