scours/diahorreah in 6 month old buckling

my 6 month old pygmy buckling has scours, hes bright and lively, eating fine but is loosing weight and has dark coloured diahorreah...
hes due worming so going to be done asap with oramec..
im going to bring him in to feed him up but wondered before i get a vet if anyone has any ideas of what it may be caused by and anything else i can try before a big vet call out.

Coccidiosis?

hi i wondered if it was coccidiosis but thought they got blood in d+ with that and havent seen any trace of blood..if i treat for that anyway should i also treat the rest of herd who dont live with him but share pasture? also can i use a coccidiostat and oramec on same day or within a few days of each other?

I've had coccidiosis in kids this age with no blood, just scouring. I'd talk to your vet tomorrow. When mine had coccidiosis we gave them Metacam injections too, for the inflammation and pain, which helped them mend faster. You could ask them about the two meds together.

If it is cocci - Vecoxan, same dose as for sheep of similar weight.

If it is worms - Oramec at double the sheep dose for his weight.
