Keeping feet/feathers clean?
« on: November 23, 2013, 02:30:07 pm »
I've got some bantams with feathered feet, I am starting to get dirty feathers on their feet. I am thinking of putting sand in the run or wood chippings from the tree surgeons on site.

Would either of these do?

We have pekins and lots of mud. They do free range so not in a muddy run all the time .... lots of grass. No problems caused by feathery feet and mud yet ... 4 years  :fc: .

show birds are often kept inside to prevent any feather damage.
im sure sand or woodchips would be fine tho.
