Just put them in single layers in crates, temperature's going to come down on Tuesday anyway so they should keep for a while.

I think it's important to keep them out of the sunlight, too. Maybe that's just apples though?

If they are for feeding to piggies - why not shove them through a chopper processor and bag the mush and freeze it! then it will keep for months rather than weeks!

If its for humans then same principle but peeled and cored.

Don't store apples & pears in same crates, pears generally go off quicker than apples so i would use up the pears first, as soon as you spot an fruit starting to spoil take it out as it will spread to other fruit. Generally find that paler coloured apples store less well than bright green (granny smith type).

As with the apples, I would let them ferment and feed the fermented fruit to the pigs......let the squeal for more each day....but dont just give them this give them their ordinary feed as well......YUMMO!!! :farmer:
