hog roast

hello all!  built our own spit roast, collected our pig from abbatoir, got loads of charcoal.... how long will a 56kg pig take to cook????   :pig:

At least 14 hours I would have thought we did a 46kg tammie a couple of weeks ago and that took just over 12.

OH home made spit can lift the heat up as well so it had a couple of hours at the end of cooking with the oil drums closer to the pig.

What kind of motor are you using to turn the spit?  I've got an electric one but it's not powerful enough to turn a weaner hehe (i had to cut it in half)

our new holland t6080 powered the motor attached to PTO, we did it yesterday and it was about 14hrs. Absolutely beautiful!!!   ;D

it was a struggle but it just about coped  :D  :D   lack of free time to modify the motor we had - worked brillantly  :wave:

Wheel chair motors and stair lift motors I do hope there is not cruelty to the elderly going on out there, I do hope the owners of the machines are not the ones being made to turn the hog roasts ;D

that is a photo - if it has worked - of our hog roast, oil drum cut in half and welded together!
