Pig losing weight
« on: March 17, 2011, 12:35:42 pm »
Hello,

I have a saddle back sow  :pig: who appears to be losing weight.
She is eating well. However she appears to be very thin on her rear end.
I have wormed her approx 4 weeks ago and cannot see anything in her pooh.

Does anyone know what might be the problem.

I have tried to search the forum but couldn't find anything.

Thank you

what age is she? are her teeth ok, and has her poo got undigested food in it? have u tried changing the wormer to a different type? is she eating enough for her size? is she on sow rolls? is she pregnant or just farrowed?

On the wormer side:

1) was it a "cover all" wormer?

2) Did you dose correctly for her weight?

Thanks

She is 3 years old, not sure about teeth, don't think so, just used flubenol powder in her feed, yes I  give her approx 5-6lbs per day of BOCM Pauls olympic pellets, she farrowed 10 months ago.

I can't think of anything else, I may need to get the vet out to see her.
