New class this year for rare breeds due to demand we will have a separate class so as many entries needed as possible to support this.
We look forward to the 149th Turriff Show to be held on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th August 2013. The trade stand area continues to expand and the new area allocated for arts and crafts on the east side of the Show field is popular with exhibitors and Show visitors. A new food court will provide a wide variety of menus to suit all the family.
We would expect about 800 horse and pony entries and 40 goats on the Sunday, and 450 cattle, 580 sheep including the return of the Bluefaced Leicester Progeny Show and 40 Clydesdale horses on the Monday. In addition there is fur and feather classes and an Open Dog Show on the Sunday with the rabbit and cavy sections now affiliated and upgraded to 2 star status. The poultry and a Companion Dog Show are on the Monday.
There are over 250 trade stands, a renowned food fayre and indoor shopping mall, exhibition hall with a ‘lifestyle theme’ and cookery demonstrations, a special forestry area and a special educational area for children plus Codona’s funfair.
The Industrial Marquee is one of the largest in the country with over 1700 home based craft exhibits plus an excellent horticultural show.
Each day has an extensive ringside entertainment programme with many special attractions including Jason Smyth Adrenaline Tour – the awesome Quad and Motorcycle Stunt show, Terrier Racing with Cyril the Squirrel, fine sulky trotting, pony carriage driving (Sunday).
