Leading pig geneticist Dr Rex Walters has kindly agreed to share his expert knowledge at Derby University at the Enterprise Centre on September 5 at 10:30hrs.

We all know the fundamentals of pig keeping, but what about the structure, the building blocks of the pig's thoughts process, its genetic make up, behaviour; why it does what it does and what does it all mean, colouration, how much is nature and how much is nurture and are pigs born with certain mental characteristics.

Lunch will be included and in an ideal world it would be nice to see all breed clubs being represented. There will be a charge of GBP5.00 per person.

Why am I doing it…This is an opportunity for breed Clubs/Associations/Societies to raise their profile, it is for people who are new to pig keeping, for those that run courses to have a further insight in to pigs therefore being able to pass on the knowledge to the new and up and coming pig keeper and for those that generally have an overall interest in the domesticated pig.

Closing date for enteries: Friday 21 August 2015
