Lame ewe with wart in between toes
« on: April 30, 2013, 05:34:55 pm »
Hello.
I've just rounded up one of my ewes, John Wayne, as she is limping. I was expecting a stone or something, but she has a wart inbetween her toes .
I've just sprayed it with Terramycin but I wondered if I should have done anything else? Lanced it? Antibiotic injection?
Never had one before.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like an interdigital granuloma , if it gives her serious problems its a job for the vet

If it's a granuloma it can be caused by over-trimming the horn and will bleed profusely if damaged.

Thank you.
We tend to do minimal foot trimming so I can't imagine it's that, and wouldn't that be round the edge of the hoof?
We'll keep an eye on her and hope it's nothing serious.
