Lovely HelpXer heading to Ireland next
« on: June 15, 2015, 10:12:19 am »
If anyone of you in Ireland need help on your smallholding, I can really recommend Neil, staying with me in North Wales currently but heading to Ireland at the end of this month.
He is from Australia, and has lived on farms/smallholding most of his life. In his 60s now he is a treasure of experience and knowledge on all things self-sufficiency and can tackle anything really. Hard working, easy going and a lovely guy.

PM me for more info & contact details.

Darn - wrong country ::)
Our holding has Anglo Nubian and British Toggenburg goats, Gotland sheep, Franconian Geese, Blue Swedish ducks, a whole load of mongrel hens and two semi-feral children.

Someone needs to convince him to come up to Aberdeenshire - who's good at marketing  :eyelashes:

I think Neil could well be open to offers from Scotland (or elsewhere for that matter). He has time off travelling in Europe til the end of the year - enough time for several detours!

If anybody is interested in getting in touch with him direct please PM me, and I can pass on his email.
He is happy for anyone to email him suggestions.

HelpX is a bit like WOOF - an online network connecting volunteers with people who need a helping hand.
The idea is that the host accommodates and feeds the volunteer(s) in exchange for help/work. The details are down to host and volunteer to agree (i.e. how much work, on what projects, how long they stay etc).
There are a lot of young people on there looking for work experience or to practice language skills, but sometimes you get really experienced people offering up their time and skills. One has to choose wisely depending on what you need help with.
