Changing stubble field to grass
« on: March 21, 2013, 07:47:32 pm »
Been offered a large chunk of land to rent. About 30 acres of it has been used to grow wheat for the last 3 years. Roughly how expensive and much of a job would it be to change the field to permanent pasture and what is the general procedure? Contractors would be doing the work as I don't have anywhere near sufficient equipment to do it.

spray off with round up and direct drill the grass seed so not ripping up ground and then roll every week to compact the surface as long as not  :gloomy:

And then put sheep on it. ;)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
