Why me .....
« on: September 15, 2010, 06:39:40 pm »
I love our pet pig but ...  sometimes he can be a bit well boarish.  Day before yesterday he moved into the chicken house causing chaos and the chickens had to be bedded down in the barn for a night.  Last night he snuggled down in his usual spot, but must have rolled over in the night, and squashed the cockerel.  Am so upset.

Today he is protesting by having a sit in on the cover to the septic tank.  Some of the cobb 500 chickens have joined him and are forming a picket line.  Whilst concerned that the concrete cover might not be up to his 200 k plus weight main problem is the man who inspects septic tanks is here and writing up his notes in the lounge over his third cup of coffee.  Pig and chicken sit in continues.

Have tried negotiating with the pig not the fosse man and bribery to no avail.  Hopefully they will give in when it gets dark.  On the up side the inspector is coming back tomorrow.  He is having an early finish.

Poor cockerel. Your post did make me smile though - it's the stuff of TV!

Da Da Da dit Da Da Da

now here is the news..

Due to the cuts this year, various groups across the country say Pickits and disturbance to services is almost guaranteed and will cause wide spread disruption.

Today the leader of the union for hogs said, "We shall not be moved, bribes and sweet offerings are no good, we will stand or sit united, no one will lift the covers on important issues; until our point is made; rumor's are rife that an Innocent bystander was fatally injured in one protest, showing that earlier warnings of civil disobedience by unions were not unfounded: the dispute continues.

i am sorry about your cockerel  :( hope you don't mind the lyrical line only meant to lighten your mood. Hes a stubborn bugger isn't he  :o :o

Thanks for all the great responses, cockerel was v. old it was sad but a bit funny too.  He has moved from the septic tank lid and back into the chicken house.  He was finally bribed out of the chicken house with peaches and is now on his sofa snoring.

Thanks all for cheering me up.  Have protected septic tank lid, man is due to arrive at 9 am, will keep Digby confined indoors until he has gone.  Wonder what he wrote in his notes for us yesterday?

What breed of pig is he? I am thinking of getting some Kune Kune. Do I have to provide a sofa and exotic fruit for them :o

Thanks so much for posting that - haven't laughed as much in ages!

I needed cheering up, as I hurt one of our hens whilst trying to catch her for dusting earlier (far too flighty, poor girl), and one of the others has not so much started moulting, as become self-plucking!!

Thanks for all the wonderful replies.  Update the septic tank passed just and the lid is still intact.  The chickens have given up the picket line.

Kune kunes make great pets.  They only need a small sofa.  Digby is a large black, but I think he is going to be big even for that breed.  Wouldnt be without him, just somedays need him to be without me for a short while.
