Greetings from a new small holder
« on: September 13, 2010, 04:47:54 pm »
Spent 30 years in Export Sales, now it's time to get a proper job. Just moved into a 9 acre farm in west Dorset. Inherited 5 pregnant sheep which have just lambed, 2 pigs GOS x Duroc and some chickens.

The 9 acre field has had nothing done to it for over 5 years, as the rest of the place and is in a bit of a poor state.

Will no doubt be sending of questions left right & centre the more I realise I don't know.

Cheers 4 now

Thanks to you all for a "warm". The weather seems to feature highly in the replies.

We are just 6 miles from the Dorset coast, yet 700' above sea level. As you can imagine, on a clear day one can see for miles, well 10 to be precise. Today we are enjoying a sea mist which blows inland reducing viability down to about 50 yds & with constant 18 mph wind which makes everything very wet.
