Introducing new hens
« on: September 13, 2010, 02:23:01 pm »
I have picked up a couple of new hens from a free range farm who were having a clear out today. I think the hens have moulted a bit and were running round the yard in the pouring rain when i collected mine. On arrival home I have noticed that one seems to have froth around it's beak. I have still got them in a separate box in the greenhouse and was wondering what to do before introducing them to the others just incase it has anything contagious.
Any advice please. ???

With all new additions, keep them in quarantine for 2 weeks in case of any underlying disease that may reaer its ugly head.

Better to treat 2 birds than all of your existing flock.
