Can I Clik with an open wound?
« on: July 27, 2018, 12:05:07 pm »
my sheep are about due to be clik'd, although as we are expecting heavy rain this weekend (yippee) it probably won't be until next week.
One of the sheep has an open wound that the magpies keep picking at. We have put stuff on the wound to heal and also deter the magpies but am wondering if she should've clik'd. Would it be ok to spray her and make sure that the wound area is missed or will the Clik still aggravate the wound?

Doesn't it say on the label not to apply to broken skin? I'd smother the wound in sudocreme, keeps most things away!

If she has an open wound she needs the strike prevention. Cover it with something whilst you apply the clik so it doesn't get in. Stockholm tar might keep the magpies off and flies.

I’ve used it for the first time and had no problems. Did you apply the right dose and apply as per instructions?

Been using Clik since it started  Vetrazin before that and never seen a problem  circa 1300 per year done . Must be applied BEFORE blow fly season as it only protects not kills

Weather has been too wet to apply Clik but have now got some Battles summer fly cream.

As I have just had a hip replacement I can't do anything to the animals myself at the moment but OH has I tried all in hand
