Hi
I'm new to pigs. I have 2 GOS gilts. This morning I found one of them keeps sneezing and has a snotty nose. It looks like she just has a bit of a cold. Is there anything I should do for her or are they like humans and get better without help?
would appreciate any advice.

Are you sure it is not the bedding?  We used some old hay just to get rid of it a few weeks ago, and it really did set off an allergic reaction - snotty nose and weepy eyes.  Changed the bedding the next day and all was fine again.

Just a thought?

Hi
As Kate says it could be the bedding, Hay is more dusty especially is older.

I also have a Gos female who shows signs of a cold, same symptoms as you describe, but it appears that she eats her food so quickly it goes up the nose and everywhere but the right way down!!!!

Please let us know if you find the cause

Thank you for all the advice. It wasn't the bedding as the symptoms appeared before any changes had been made to the bedding. After I noticed she was a little poorly I gave her loads more bedding so she could be comfortable and keep warm. She was snotty and quiet yesterday but it must have just been a cold as she's back to normally today, running around like crazy and eating loads.
Thanks again.
