Anyone know what killed this hen?
« on: June 18, 2018, 09:26:00 am »
Sorry I can't attach the photo as it's too large! Happened last night. The hens were in a 6ft secure run although the roof is tarpaulin which the wind may have blown a gap in last night (but no big holes). 20 hens in the house/run in total but just the one hen killed, feathers pulled out in clumps and breast/head and insides eaten out. Thought at first may be a bird of prey? But someone pointed out they wouldn't pluck the feathers in clumps? If it was a fox or badger, surely they would have killed more birds?
Anyone any ideas?
