Wanted GOS young stock
« on: August 29, 2010, 08:56:16 pm »
HI, we are trying to increase our numbers of this breed and wondered if anyone has any young stock available? Ideally over 6 months old, registered and/or unregistered.
Please let me know

Hi powis pigs
If you're going for GOS make sure they're birth notified or registered stock or you won't be able to call your meat GOS.
Following recent rulings only pedigree parents can produce GOS pork. Please see the GOS website for more info.

Hi
I have seen the website, as I understand it I can sell the meat as Traditional Rare Breed - is that right? We have a selection of both pigs and our customers don't seem to mind if they are pedigree as they see the pigs for themselves.  I think its great that the breed is being protected in this way which is why we have just bought two in pig sows who are registered as well as some unregistered sows.   :pig:

Yes it true you can market them as Traditional Rare Breed (though GOS are no longer on the RBST endangered list) so long as you don't use the word GOS on your packaging.
Good luck with your pigs
