Hello - my sow Wilma has just farrowed on Saturday. She is 4 and has farrowed before. She is an iron age ( tamworth x wild boar ) and lives in a large section of field with an arc and a stone sty. She chose the stone sty in which to farrow. 10 piglets , only one death ( so far ) at birth. The other 9 are thriving. What I would like to get some advice on is whether iron injections are essential or not. My small holding manual does not cover this but several people have asked me if I intend to do it - and I would be grateful for some advice. I have kept pigs for 4 years but this is my first farrowing experience. Thank you x

As long as they have access to earth they will not need iron injections. This has been covered in another posting, with loads of input from others with loads of experience. If you have the time have a traul through the pig section. HM
