They are cute, duck has doubled in size, since we go thim Fri night, he had a wee bath today for a paddle but never really bothered with it, so i brought him out and dried him, he chases flies, soo funny lol but he tends to knock the little chick over a lot, need to watch that, he is soo clumsy, but  funny, they are gorgeous all of them, My 5 yr old called the duck Daffy duck lol, chicks little one is Kizzy and other one is Lola 10yr old named them.

I bet you will soon find them a bit messy, I had a pair of ducks from someone on here that hatched them themselves and they are a very nice pair!!

I've got six eggs in an incubator now - looks like five have life in them so crossing fingers.  Wouldn't hatch chickens in case i got cockerels.  Drakes are easier to find homes for than noisy aggressive cockerels!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

that was not the case for me, Annie! It took me a great deal of effort to rehome one of our drakes - I had to find girls for him and drive him 2 hours north! The other one ended up in the pot, sadly...The cockerel found a home after 4 weeks locally. Nicky (dizzy1pig) said that apparently long pointed eggs are more likely to be boys than rounder ones. Even if it's an old wives tale it's worth trying - what other option is there?? :&>

you can always eat and sell all the eggs :yum:. Having him put down was the hardest thing I ever watched...I don't think I'll ever be able to grow birds for meat,  although he was tasty and fed the family for 2 days:'(

You would only get babies if you let her sit on the eggs. Also, very often ducks are not great at sitting on their eggs full term anyway.
