Prize onion
« on: August 14, 2010, 05:53:28 pm »
I went to a local show today and have decided that I want to try growing prize onions next year.

Not huge ones necessarily but a few good looking ones that I could show.

Anybody got any experience or tips?

Only that I showed some beauties one year but hadn't tied the tops just right so they weren't placed.  So find out just exactly how the show you are entering likes the onions to be presented.  Kitchen Garden magazine has done a series on showing veggies which would be very helpful if you can get hold of back copies, or the one about onions at least.
