Surely that's not a swallow?
« on: April 08, 2018, 06:31:39 pm »
Oh yes it was - a pair in fact. I didn't expect them here in mid Wales yet given recent weather but working on the stable this afternoon I could hear some familiar excited twittering and there were a pair sat on the overhead power lines. Didn't stay long, off to explore, but no doubt there will be others here soon. Does this mean we might get a 'summer' before long?

Same here, saw the first today flying around and into the stable where they nest every year. Fingers crossed Spring is on its way.

It's prompted me to look up last year's kitchen calendar (where else - it's all there!!) and they arrived on April 10th last year so they are earlier this year :-). Let's hope it bodes well for summer - I've really had enough of this long drawn out winter.

I was listening to a lark singing his heart out this morning and was wondering when we could expect the first swallow.  They usually appear here in south Scotland in mid-April, although last year they were still turning up into May.
