Anyone use a Semi Rotary Pump?

Looking at ways to pump water up from river into a IBC, been told to look into a  Semi Rotary Pump anyone tried this?

I've used them for transferring diesel out of drums and into cans, and they're both simple and reliable. I think you might find them quite slow for filling an IBC though?

What length is your pipe going to have to be, and how high is the IBC above the river?

Depending on the height gain needed would a 12V bilge pump (as used on canal boats etc) run off a leisure battery be sufficient?

I've always fancied making a hydraulic ram pump - I did start one but never got round to finishing it.

Lost interest as my stream is tiny in summer.
