Pig ark for farrowing wanted
« on: January 22, 2018, 11:39:04 am »
Our pig has outgrown her homemade ark and with the plan of breeding from her this year we are after a pig ark suitable for farrowing in the Aberdeenshire area.

We are near Methlick but I'm sure we can arrange collection or could pay for delivery if anyone has one in the NE.

Cheers GG

I have an ark which you may be interested in; the problem is it's between Stirling & Loch Lomond.  I used it for Oxford sandy & Blacks and would take a farrowing sow quite comfortably. If interested ring 01360 440480.

Thanks for the quick reply - I think its a bit too far for us to collect or arrange pick up unfortunately.

I'll give you a call if I cant get anything else in the next wee while !

Cheers :)

why not build one if you built the first?

I build all our arks here, a standard 8x8' ark easily houses a farrowing sow and litter, the best price i have managed is about £210 including fixings, door hardware, plywood, timber and roof tins, that being said i buy enough tins for 5+ arks at a time.

Yes I could do - I just thought I might be able to save some time and find a solid one already to go.

Do you have pictures / plans of yours that I could look at ?

One thing I have been unsure about is if people have solid floors or just straight onto the ground. Our first ark did have solid floors but after a few years of use the floors had been removed by the pigs !

Cheers GG
