Just following on from someone elses post, regarding rarebreeds (Derbyshire Redcap)  , was perusing the site and found this page, may be of some interest

Thank you for highlighting that.  Rare and traditional breeds of all livestock should be registered with the RBST (free). This is so that in the event of another big disease outbreak they will know who has what AND in theory they will be in a better position to fight government on our behalf taking into account the rare status of our poultry and animals.
They haven't done a sausage about the EID issue that I can see and in fact it seems that the Shearwell tags which they are promoting are some of the worst for tearing the ears of smaller breeds - I've done my mini bit of lobbying but nothing seems to have progressed yet..... :(
