First egg laid by hubbard today!!
« on: July 29, 2010, 07:25:20 pm »
couldnt believe it as thought they were too young still but there it was on the ground - one of our hubbards laid an egg!  she was walking around it a bit of a daze so think it took her a bit by surprise too!  have had to phaff around half the morning making her a laying box now!

any one know if meat bird eggs are 'different' in any way?  and how often do they lay?

and more importantly, should i incubate them?????????  and if i did, would anyone want them?

I take it is fertile?  You might get a cockerel if you hatched it - no-one seems to want them.  I can't see an egg being any different from any breed of hen for eating purposes.

Brilliant.  wish ours had laid - but hubbie sent the wee hen and 2 boys off on their holidays first leaving 3 boys.....  If I had thought we could have got eggs I would have made him leave her.

Try to be the type of person your dog thinks you are!

I was gettin eggs daily from 3 table birds, they were really nice, although rather slim and long in shape. One was giving me a double yoker every day. I ended up not wanting to eat them, But sunday roast was way more appealing than a freid egg!
