Disastrous hatch

Had 9 RIR eggs in the incubator - all doing well - candled at 9 days all fertile.

Due to hatch today (sunday 18th)

Had a power cut Friday night - kept going off and coming back on again. Was off for an hour at the most - wrapped incy in a blanket to try & keep heat in (all electric here - couldn't even heat water for a hot water bottle  ::)) Came back on at 'minimal power' so incy not working at full capacity.

Woke up 6am Saturday morning - power off again - phoned up to see how long it had been off - only 10 minutes apparently - wrapped incy up again - it was off for about 4 hours.

Only one chick hatched and survived today.  two hatched but were prolapsed so had to be culled  :(

Hoping to get some day olds tomorrow from somewhere to keep tiddler company!

'Tis very frustrating - the RIR's have been selling well so I was hoping for some replacement stock!
Ah well - such is life - or lack of it!
