just been outside unblocking those bloody drains

preparing for the calm before the storm.
i learnt me lesson the last time we had a bad rain forecast like this, the drain outside were not allowing the rain to
go where it is suppost to go and gosh there was water everywhere, i wish i had photos to show, it was bad

so ive done the job all i can do is hope that the drains do their job as well i have done mine!!

Wish I could do that - excess water in my garden goes into the burn that runs through my garden which overflows into my garden, the excess goes into the burn that runs ......................

It IS indeed! And a bl88dy nuisance it is too. A part of my back garden I can't use as it can get 9 to 10 inches deep in water. Had a suggestion to create a pond at the back with a one way valve to stop the water escaping in summer but let it in in winter, but that will be costly to dig out and line.

Oh ever so Annie love.Unfortunately there isn't a cheap way I used to do swimpools at one time and have been involved in a garden pond or 2 Please be advised if you do one line it with a butyl sheet and allow plenty of top to bury.I know its more costly than poly but it lasts and lasts Where as poly sheet deteriorates very quickly.If you really want to scatter your cash dig the hole and line it with blue clay.It makes a real good natural pond when it gets established.A tip do not make it to deep in the middle it is a waste.It will be nice with a natural stream fill and a waterfall flow driving a water wheel turning a push bike dynamo lighting a bulb or two.See I can spend your cash for you lass Look on Butyl Products Ltd - Pond Liners just for interest

HA ha, nice one, Wiz. I'm running out of profits from last house move so I think it'll be on the back burner for a long time. Front garden being made nice is priority. I'll have a look at that site though, thanks, George.x
