Hello, I would like to know what Wizard will do with his shriveled nuts on his thread too

,
This is what we do with ours here in France. I have some walnut trees. Luckily we had a wet early spring so we have tons of nuts again. We make a green nut wine called Vin de noix. I pick a few green nuts about the end of June. My French neighbour told us to test the nut with a skewer and make sure it goes through.
All all you need for 5 ltrs is about 20 green walnuts
A bag of sugar
5 ltrs of red wine (we buy it in a 5 ltr container)
a bottle of fruit alcohol ( eau de vie) The nearest thing in the UK is vodka
The next thing is to
put on a pair of rubber gloves or your hands will be stained for days. chop up the nuts (with green skins) into pieces that will fit in a demijon or big bottle. The demijons we get here are a lot bigger than the little one in the UK. So if anyone tries this you might have to split the mix in half. Then the nuts, wine and sugar goes in. Now leave it for about 6 weeks turning it now and again. Then strain it into a bucket through a jelly bag stir the alcohol in it and put it in bottles. Then leave it for a few months and have it in the winter but it can be drunk all year as an aperitif. The first time I tried it, it was served as a starter at one of our neighbours poured in half a Charentais melon.
