Personally I'd rather use non toxic materials and methods.  Steam cleaning is good, diatom earth is good (human grade)  I wouldn't touch creosote!

thanks everyone,lots to try.  well of course it is pouring and blowing a hoolie today so dont think i'll be getting much done - hopefully the wee beggers wont like it either and will leave my girls alone for tonight.

my stuff arrived today as well so want to get going with it all
