Turning wheat field back to grass
« on: September 14, 2017, 01:02:35 pm »
We are looking at a small holding on Saturday
It used to have grass fields but now has been turned into wheat fields

Out of interest does anyone know roughly what it would take to get 5 acres back to grass and how long it would be before sheep and cattle could be put back into it

Thanks I will also put in a different topic

"Without seeing it"

regardless of acreage I would guess its in stubble?

if so:
cultivate(not plough), harrow, seed and roll. all this depending on season and weather could be done in no more than a week.

new grass again depending on time of year/ location / soil / weather will be 6-12 months before its strong enough for grazing
