A friend of mine has a large white gilt which he was hoping to use for breeding along side another gilt he has. One day he went to the pen and she was sitting on her bottom. He had to help her to her feet and she looked lame on one of her back legs. She was checked by vet but they couldn't see anything. Obviously there's a concern when she's going to lie down but can't get up easily there's something wrong and she couldn't be bred from. Today I went to see the pig for my own eyes and it looked to me like a nerve problem. The pig was stepping on its toes with both back feet and very 'wobbly'
Any ideas?

Check out OCD - oesteochrondrosis but it could be her legs, spine or feet and I don't think we can really diagnose just suggest possibilities.

I agree and if she's finding it difficult to lead a normal life then there may be a hard decision to be made.
