Second hand IBC's for rain water
« on: July 14, 2017, 10:13:16 am »
 :gloomy:
Hi everyone,

Looking for around 4 IBC's for our small holding adventure. Any recommendations on reputable supply, preferably units that have only been used on food grade stuffs and are well cleaned? Oh, black would be useful?

We are in West Cornwall. Willing to pay for delivery etc.

So far I have found some at the other end of the country but communications are not too good and I would rather buy more locally...

Thanks.

Look on ebay and local farm equipment sales.
It's fairly easy to tell if they've been used for anything unsavoury by sniffing.

Hi landroverroy,

Will have another look but that is where I got my original contact (ie ebay) and ... well let's just say doing business with them has been challenging. But I will look again under farm equip sales... don't think I looked at that filter before?

Cheers.

We got our black ones from http://www.dvcontainers.co.uk/.  Very helpful and friendly and good communications.  Don't know of carriage costs vary with distance.

I happened across mine on shpock: I bought 4 locally in varying condition averaging out at £40 a piece.  If you not already registered with shpock might be worth registering and setting up notifications for IBCs for sale.

Thanks for the ideas.

Will give DVc a call next week and see if a deal is possible. I want 4 of them.

Could see some on shpock but couldn't sort the query by location so gave up! Thanks, looks like an interesting website but some development is needed (or this user needs educating).

I seem to think the location thing only works in the smart-phone app (i.e.  not on a PC).

Here we have Cumbria Agricultural Seek and Sell and they come up on there regularly. You possibly have something similar and you can post wants too. There is things like Farming ads too.

d'oh

Downloaded the app...sadly nowt near me but I have a new marketplace to play with!

Ordered a couple from DVc in the end. Delivery was around £50. Will let you know how I get on once they arrive. Shame I wont have them in place to capture the downpour brewing up outside!!

Cumbria Agricultural Seek and Sell looks like a great resource. Can't find similar for Cornwall but there are some adorable puppies on the Cumbria version.

Ordered from DVc in the end. Pleasant and quick service with the containers arriving a couple of days after order.

Nice and clean. Faint whiff of veg oil but nothing to worry about.

Came in at around £85 a piece with delivery etc.

Thanks for the recommendation.

£85  holy cow !!!  I take quite a few for disposal each week , have a few at home for various uses , that's the oil industry for you , shame you are at the wrong end of the UK

One doesn't find many "bargains" in Cornwall !!  Also, a search for what you need 2nd-hand "in Cornwall" (agri/horti-wise) will likely produce lean results.
Why?  I don't know, but that is as it is!

Ahh I didn't see you were in Cornwall when I first saw this post so ignored it.  I had two you could have bought from me for £25 each!

If you buy them from a company then £50 plus delivery is about standard, I recommend facebook!  Griggs Notice Board is a good place to start and there are several groups such as "farmers free ads on Bodmin moor" for agricultural free ads in cornwall.  What part of the county are you in?

Just saw same IBC's in local farmers store retailer for £85 plus vat (plus delivery) so DVc did me a good deal I reckon. I hear a lot about £25 IBC's but found none for sale nearby and had to pay what the piper asked.

We are west Cornwall, Helston way.

Checking out the FB group's now. Some interesting stuff on Griggs...wish they would just put this stuff on a searchable website...will get my missus to hold my hand!!
