Clean up after Orf?
« on: May 05, 2017, 06:32:32 pm »
I have just weaned 3 bottle fed lambs, 2 of which had Orf.  They have been housed in a brick shed with a hard standing in front and a very small grass paddock behind before now being moved to a field and shelter.  How should I clean up the empty shed which becomes a storage area until next years lambs?  I’ve sprayed with Jeyes fluid then jetwashed walls to 3feet and the floor.  Anything else I could do?

A more powerful disinfectant- Sorgene for example would be better. Sorgene specifically attacks all sorts of bugs including orf. Other than that there's not much else you can do other than vaccinate with scabivax.

Can you leave the doors and windows open through the summer?  Sunshine and good air circulation help.

Thanks, I’ll get Sorgene and spray with that, doors and windows can be left open, weather dependent.
