Hello,
In one of our very old apple trees we discovered a bees nest. Now obviously we don't want to kill them off or anything, but my concern is the tree that they're residing in is very old, rotten and the branch is falling off. We have made some temporary props for the branch, but what should we do long term? Is it a case of buying a hive, or would they move if the branch does give way??
Any help/advice gratefully welcomed.

My advice if you are not a bee keeper is to contact the local association, they will advise you and possibly come and sort them for you

Of they are not bothering you , the tree is not causing  problem either if it happens and the branch breaks they will sort them selves out . A local  keeper might like to have a couple of baited swarm catcher close by .

 Are you 100 % sure it is honey bees ? Apple & pear trees tend to have wasps & hornets rather than bees .

 Can you get a picture & post it of them coming in & out & magnify it to about 400 % then crop so we can see the creatures before sending it.
