Sausages
« on: January 28, 2017, 03:53:03 pm »
Our 2 Kune-Kune  pigs went away just over a week ago to Dingwall. We used them last year for our sheep and were more than happy. Yesterday OH met the van who was delivering to a butcher in Banff and we collected our meat. this time we asked them for sausages, bacon and some joints. Over 880 loose sausages in 2 boxes. Even before breakfast we were bagging and sealing then into our freezer. I had suggested to OH that maybe we should just have had one pig done as sausages and bacon. Maybe next time he will listen !!!!!

I found out the same with the OSB's , 2 years now and we still have meat galore , especially sausages , sausage rolls ,sausage casserole, toad in the hole , toad not in a hole ! sausage curry , bangers and mash  , sausages for breakfast stir fry pork , sweet and sour pork , strangely all the bacon went first Mmmmm.
Please can some one suggest other serving suggestions , we still have half a chest freezer's worth sitting at -28c.
I'm not tired of the meat as its our own home produced  but would like more variation.

If you've really run out of 'sausage' ideas, you could take the meat out of the casing, and make little pork meatballs, or squash into little breakfast patties - delicious either way.

Your OH had it wrong: 2017 is the Year of the Rooster, not the Year of the Sausage  :D

I love sausages and meatballs, could eat them every day. Add some fennel seeds for a change in flavour, for example, yum!
