First weaners to slaughter - advice please!
« on: January 25, 2017, 12:58:30 pm »
Hi Everyone,

We have just started smallholding 7 months ago, although I have been using the recipes off this fantastic site for a few years now! We are due to take our first weaners to slaughter next month and I would be very grateful for some advice/experiences.

We are going to vacuum pack them ourselves and I was wondering what sort of labels do people use that will hold during freezing - where do you get them from and do you print them yourselves?

We are looking to sell the meat to friends and neighbours - how long once vacuum packed can you keep it before freezing (assume only a couple of days) or does everyone make sure they have all of their orders in BEFORE picking the meat up from the abbatoir?

Many thanks for any advice - all gratefully received!

Camilla.
