has anyone else got a pig(s) that sits like a dog, not on command though!
i seen one of ours do it a few times and couldnt believe it, i thought something was
wrong with it!

Oh yes, quite a few pigs enjoy a sit down!! I was only talking to a friend today about her Kune Kune's sitting down. So don't worry, nothing wrong with your pig!!

As long as they're just sitting - that's ok. But don't let them sit and think - that way leads to mayhem !

Our Gracie Tamworth sits in the position and pushes her bottom outwards to push out the sides of her wallow to make it larger. She circles it. Sit - push out - shuffle around - push again. Incredible the first time we saw it. Now of course it's old hat! What a clever pig!

Our 3 kune kunes all sit on demand (especially if they happen to see the bit of fruit you're holding for them)

Hubby can even get the boar to raise a trotter from time to time, but I suspect it's more luck than training

One of mine sits - very cute. I love the way pigs scratch when they lean on things - it always looks so satisfying.

Our saddleback used to sit all the time, and the large black pet pig does too, but the Gossies very rarely. perhaps that is because they are either eating or sleeping.

We had three Kune Kune castrated boars until last year but unfortunately had to get rid of them due to a change in circumstances (lost pub with pets paddocks) and they would almost always sit and beg like a dog for titbits such as pieces of carrots.

My glossies all sit like labradors i think they copy Max our dog who spends a lot of time with them. We call him a Labrapig and the pigs Pigadors!!

Hi,
We were told that they will sit for food primarily because they can't really look up. So if you hold out an apple/carrot or other titbit they will sit to see what it is - but ours appear to just enjoy sitting

One of my Tamworth weaners sits when I scratch the rot of his tail with a curry comb.

You can just see him sighing with pleasure as his back legs go. One of these days he'll be rolling on his back for a tummy rub like the dog :-)))
