A Good Arrangement
« on: June 04, 2010, 09:24:08 am »
Well I think I have the best set up going at the moment. Being an engineer I help out a mate with a wagon business occasionally, he then gives me all the grain left in the trailers that will not tip out, this is usually about a ton at the end of the month, and this is every month. This then gets taken to the farm where the farmer uses this to feed his animals, and some for my chickens of course. He allows me to shoot on his land as I keep the vermin down, and he has let me have 1/2 an acre of ground in the corner of a field for veg plot and my chickens all for nothing. Who says bartering is dead. Do have the occasional curve ball from farmer though tractor and machinery repairs, fencing and a bit of stock chasing, But hey can't complain at that.
I have been doing this for a couple of years now and the veg plot is now well up and running and my chicken numbers increasing and best of all its only a 5 minute walk from the house. ;D
