Lost 2 girls
« on: June 02, 2010, 08:26:31 am »
I've lost 2 girls in 4 days. 1 had been I'll off and on for weeks she had baytril from vet rallied but then died within days of finishing it. The other looked a bit unwell last night when I went to lock thm up and was dead in the coop this morning. Now I'm worried about losing the others. I had got 8 more rescue hens arranged for Sunday but I've cancelled until whatever it is is gone. Any ideas on a good disinfectant seems like some sort of
bug vet wasn't sure what but they had watery greenish droppings and scouring. I need to get in there tonight and thoroughly disinfect.

Sorgene. We use for lambing pens, stables, poultry housing, and even in the bathroom on occasion.:)

that's a very good point bamford they should be safe from most of the nasty bugs. the two things would have been fixed by the antibiotics. is there any chance that they have had access to anything poisonous. the only thing is to issolate any sick ones. clean out as your doing and treat the syptoms. if anymore die then the vet should get samples checked.
