Dirty bum

Hi

One of our 5M old Ryeland lambs has a really dirty bum (green/brown). We cut away affected fleece during the week but are now off out to clean him up at he is still affected. He is the only one of the 5 lambs we have with an issue but seems absolutely fine otherwise. Up and about, grazing with the others. They are completely grass fed apart from occasional  (once a week) small amounts of grass nuts/pencils used for bucket training (2 handfuls of each shared between the 5 animals so not much). They were the first grazers on our land and it had been unused for 5M. The 5 sheep on there before were 'renting' to get away from flooded land but were not affected by worms. The paddock is grass and buttercup with occasional thistles and a small amount of clover. Nothing else we know of.

Is this likely to be a result of the grass being wet with dew most days now or something else? They have not been wormed as we thought (foolishly?) it was a 'clean' field.

Thanks for any guidance!   :sheep:

I would get a FEC done but in the meantime try some hay. If it will eat the hay it usually dries them up if there is no underlying problem.

How confident are you that the 5 sheep on the land before yours were clean of worms?  If you have a FEC done you'll know the best path to take with this one and the rest.
