Glamorous .....who is (def not me!)
« on: May 27, 2010, 01:56:07 pm »
Was checking my veg plants and the postie arrived this morning.  Picture the scene, me in my joddies, wellies, two fleeces, cos its a biting wind, and after all that sun, I am feeling the cold.  Bit of small talk about the weather etc.  Not seen this postie before, maybe usual is on holiday.  Anyway, as he turned to leave, he said "Its nice to see a bit of glamour"  I looked round, wondering who else was in the garden, and it dawned on me, he was actually talking about me!!

I am a lot of things, but glamorous is not one of them.  Anyway he made my day.  Went back indoors, and someone rang.  During the conversation, they said I had a lovely voice, and it was such a young voice too.

Goodness me, my day for nice compliments. Keep them coming is what I say.  At my age, you have to lap  them up as they are few and far between.

Maybe the posties eyesight is failing, but never mind.  I believe him about me being glamorous (not)

Oh yes, I love my wellies - so comfy.  Was on my way to the supermarket, and my OH asked if I was going "looking like that"  That was me in my wellies.  Silly question, of course I was ............did he think I was about to put on a pair of high heels or something?

Very probably!  Men seem to think we have nothing better to do with our time than make ourselves into eye candy for them.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

and I think nothing of going to the local shop splattered with all manner of mud and muck, wellies & hat!

I don't do glamour anyway!

Roxy, now BE HONEST
Were your fleeces zipped up or were your boobs hingin oot?
 :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D
That's the only reason my postie would use the word "glamour".
I have a very sexy, husky phone voice. 40 fags a day tend  to produce that effect  ;) :D :D :D

VAL!!!  That is a dreadful admission!  You really must stop.  Just think of all that money - £10 a day, £3650 a year - what could that buy you - £300 a month extra mortgage to get the place you would like to have?

I know Annie and my husband smokes too - although not as much as me - and we drink too much wine at home as well - am ashamed to admit the cost of that ...it's the stress of our jobs I blame! Pathetic excuse.... ok you have given me a kick up the bum - hadnt thought of it like that - what an incentive! Should put the money away for our dream.  Thanks Annie.

Thats very true George - I think you would have to be super-disciplined to  save it all in a jar or something!
Yes Annie , Helen and I have both stopped for periods using different methods- hypnotism, acupuncture, Zyban, nicotine gum, patches, inhalator, microtabs... I stopped for 4 years once although I just changed my addiction to nicotine gum. A friend of mine is a professional anti-smoker ... works for the Health Board... and she says nicotine is as addictive as heroin. That should be stressed more and hopefully fewer folks would start.

This morning I needed some streralizing liquid such as Milton I went into Immingham shopping centre to the chemist. I walked through the door and all these smartly dressed women were in there, they turned around as the door opened and looked at my face then their eyes slid down to my skirt and wellies covered in pig muck.

I never was one for making a fashion statement lol but OMG did I feel so under dressed.

And they didnt have Milton!  ;D

I was at my son's school tonight wearing a filthy t shirt, crocs and a pair of muddy baggy-bummed leggings - knees looked mouldy as I had been kneeling on weed feed and mosskiller on my grass.
My son said "Don't worry mum, I'll tell them you're my auntie"  :o :o ;D :D :D :D
